All that Glitters

Boyfriend Blazer: Target
Bracelet: Banana Republic
Tank, Skirt, Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman

I've wanted a sequined skirt for ages now, and this past weekend, I found the perfect black one for only $15 from Forever 21. Score. I'm the type of person that needs to wear all the clothes that I buy within the week, so I knew Thanksgiving dinner was the occasion for the skirt to make its debut. I decided on a monochromatic approach and let the sequins do the talking. The only downside was stuffing myself with turkey, mashed potatoes, ham, and pumpkin pie whilst wearing this outfit. Not the most comfortable experience, but we all have to make our sacrifices. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Polyvore and Bloggers

I had the pleasure of going to a blogger meetup hosted by Polyvore at The Box in San Francisco on Thursday night. The food, ambiance, and people that I met made for the perfect evening. We heard from Jess Lee, the VP of Brand Marketing, about how the company started and the direction that it is headed towards. I also watched a mini demonstration on new Polyvore features and learned a few useful tricks and tips. Needless to say, I will definitely be incorporating more Polyvore into The Stylista Diaries. Special thank you to Polyvore for hosting the event, and to Jonathan Koshi for event pictures. I had a fabulous time!

Spotlight On: Maya Brenner Designs

I was at a sports bar in San Francisco rooting for the Giants when I saw someone with this California state necklace in gold. It was so simple, yet made a bold statement of "I'm proud to be a Californian!" I asked who the designer was, and quickly learned of LA jewelry designer Maya Brenner. Although these small necklaces are a little pricey ($250 for the 14k gold piece, and $120 for the silver ones), I love the idea of showing pride in your home state worn as a piece of jewelry. I think this will be one of my many presents to myself for the holiday season. To shop for more state necklaces or Maya Brenner jewelry, you can go directly to her website here!

NYC Fashion Week Spring 2011: Yigal Azrouel

I knew I had to peruse through Yigal Azrouel's Spring 2011 line--and true to form, there were some geometric pieces mixed with structural ones. Sheer fabrics were utilized with a color palette of white and melon; and Azrouel included an array of looks--ranging from pants and shorts, to skirts and dresses. So versatile! Makes me think back on when I met him almost a year ago...read about it here!

OPI versus Sally Hansen

I'm kind of over the black nailpolish thing--not because it looks bad, but it's a little bit harsh don't you think? I've opted for a perfect blend of gray and taupe (perfect for Fall) and found two great nailpolishes: OPI's "You Don't Know Jacques!" and Sally Hansen's "Commander in Chic." I use both and they are a great alternative to extreme black.

Sunkist

 Cardigan: J.Crew
Tank/Skirt/Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: Madden Girl
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I don't know why I don't wear my favorite J.Crew cardigan more often. I love the scalloped detailing, the bright color, and the soft light merino wool. Paired it with a chambray skirt, the usual heels and I was ready to go out for the day. Although I must say, as comfortable as those shoes are, walking the steep hills of San Francisco can be a bit of a challenge, but at least I got to work out my legs?

Gray + Pink

Top: Forever 21
Jeans: Levi's
Shoes: Elizabeth and James
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Purse: Louis Vuitton

Again with the gray and black, but decided to add that little pop of color with this braided pink belt found in the Levi's sample closet! Instead of tucking the shirt all the way in, I am kind of into messily tucking it in the front, and leaving the back untouched. Happy Friday!

Floral Fantasy

Contrary to belief, I am a romantic at heart--I love the flowers, candles, chocolates, the whole shebang--what girl doesn't? I especially love fresh flowers and I currently have beautiful sunflowers adorning my kitchen table, which has ultimately inspired me to create a mini trend board of floral dresses. Something about it just makes me want to lay in the shade along the banks of a river and read a good book. So cheesy and cliche, I know, but can't you just picture it?

In Combat

I love the olive green military jackets that I've been seeing everywhere. I scored one from my magical Levi's sample closet and have been wearing it with anything and everything. I am also currently obsessing over stripes. All I wear are stripes and I can't get enough. A simple striped shirt with the jacket, cuffed sleeves, a huge statement necklace, ultra skinnies with chunky boots and you're ready to combat the world.

Stella McCartney Fall 2010
Perusing through the latest edition of Harper's Bazaar and saw a section entitled: How to Wear Camel. I immediately thought of the several fall 2010 fashion shows from Michael Kors which featured all the textured camel-colored sweaters to the Chloe trench coats. Invest in a trench or blazer (since it will essentially go with everything) and pair it with either black pencil for a crisp look, or wear a camel sweater dress with brown leather slouchy boots for a more casual feel. Hopefully I will depart from my beloved black ensembles and embrace camel this fall.

Coming to America: ASOS

About a few weeks ago, my friend asked me if I have ever heard of Asos.com. I get pretty embarrassed when people ask me about fashion news and I look at them with a blank stare. In case you haven't noticed, I am behind on my retail knowledge. I just got my Lucky magazine in the mail and was flipping through it and saw a brief article on Asos. Now I was curious. I just browsed the website, and I really wish I was completely clueless about this website because now I think there will be some damage on my plastic--horrible, especially when you're trying to save money!

Asos.com is the UK's largest independent retailer, which features designer labels as well as their own private label--all at a pretty affordable cost. I can guarantee that I will spend countless hours searching for new clothes to add to my already limited closet space.

Too good to be true?! Nope! Only $38!
